Would you like to take part in this project? Help establish the Suryoyo Archive and Documentation Centre!

9 februari 2026

Join us in a special project to preserve Suryoyo heritage for future generations!

Preparations have begun for the establishment of the Suryoyo Archive and Documentation Centre at the Mor Ephrem Monastery. With your help, we will collect and preserve photographs, documents, and personal stories (oral history) from Tur Abdin and the diaspora.

This project is a collaboration between member organisations of the Dutch Network: the Mor Ephrem Monastery, Suryoyo Media Foundation, Be Shao Syriac Foundation, and Arab-West Foundation, with support from the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands.

What can you do?

Do you have photographs, books, or documents that should not be lost?

Are you older and would like to share your life story in an interview?

Are you young and interested in learning how to conduct interviews through training?

📅 Meet us:

• 22 February 2026 (14:00–18:00) – Suryoyo Media Foundation Symposium, Gronau (DE)
• 1 March 2026 (14:00–16:00) – Information meeting at Mor Ephrem Monastery

Would you like to learn more about the Suryoyo Archive and Documentation Centre and the launch of the project “Engaging with the Ethical Aspects of Oral History – Interviews with Orthodox Christians in the Netherlands as a Practical Test”?
