Great Interest in the Suryoyo Archive & Documentation Centre at Mor Ephrem!

2 maart 2026

What an inspiring gathering yesterday at the Syriac Orthodox Monastery of Mor Ephrem!

Several attendees immediately signed up for an interview. This confirms how strong the desire is to document our history and pass it on to future generations. 🙏

Together with the Mor Ephrem Monastery, Be Shao Syriac Foundation, Suryoyo Media Foundation, and Arab-West Foundation, we are building a Suryoyo Archive and Documentation Centre. This project is made possible in part by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands.

🔎 In this first phase, we are focusing on oral history:

• Stories from our elders

• Migration history & the Sayfo

• Village and family histories

• Traditions, faith, and crafts

👥 Would you also like to share your story or take part? You can still sign up!
