Conny Groot van CultuurGeneratie<\/strong> heeft de afgelopen weken samen met anderen vrijwilligerswerk gedaan bij Tent of Nations van de familie Nassar in Bethlehem. Op 19 juli schreef ze: \u201cElke dag voel ik me meer gemotiveerd. Het is onvoorstelbaar wat hier gebeurt. Ik wist het al, maar het is anders om van dichtbij mee te maken hoe de mensen hier worden gewurgd.\u201d De familie Nassar heeft juridisch deugdelijke eigendomspapieren, erkend door het Hooggerechtshof van Isra\u00ebl, maar krijgt dagelijks te maken met intimidatie, geweld en vernielingen door de illegale nederzetting Neve Dani\u00ebl. Ondanks hun moed worden ze al 33 jaar van de ene rechtbank naar de andere gestuurd, wat financieel en emotioneel uitputtend is. Het recente uitstel van een zitting bij het Hooggerechtshof heeft hun angst vergroot. Dankzij hun communicatieve vaardigheden krijgt de protestants-lutherse familie steun van kerken, particulieren en ngo\u2019s over de hele wereld, waaronder de Nederlandse Stichting Tent of Nations. Grote groepen vrijwilligers helpen de familie op hun land en vormen een \u201cbeschermende aanwezigheid\u201d tegen kolonisten. De situatie van de familie Nassar krijgt aandacht van media en politici, maar er is meer politieke druk op Isra\u00ebl nodig. Een verblijf bij Tent of Nations biedt niet alleen steun aan de familie, maar geeft ook nieuwe inzichten in de moeilijke situatie van Palestijnen.
