SUMMARY:3rd National Network Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Dear members and friends\, \n\n\n\n\n\nWe warmly invite you to the 3rd National Network Meeting on Thursday\, 26 September 2025\, from 19:00 to 21:00 at Huis van Vrede\, Trumanlaan 70–72\, Utrecht. A shared meal will be offered beforehand from 18:00 to 19:00 (registration open until 24 September\, 20:00). \nThis meeting will focus on key topics shaping the future of our network\, including the transition of ALF-NL into a formal association with legal personality\, the annual report and progress on the Faro subsidy application\, the Network Engagement Scheme (NES) 2025–2026\, development of our website and fundraising opportunities—including EU funding—and updates on the Gaza exhibition and ongoing international initiatives. We hope for a strong turnout to collectively guide the growth and sustainability of our network. \nFor those unable to attend in person\, the meeting is also accessible online. \nDuring the meeting\, members will review the report of the previous National Network Meeting (28 April\, Twente) and discuss the Faro Convention subsidy application for ethically recording oral history within the Syrian Orthodox community in the Netherlands. The formation of a sustainability group within the network will also be addressed. \nThe annual report\, currently reflecting the activities of the Arab-West Foundation\, will evolve as the network develops. Updates on the Network Engagement Scheme (NES) 2025–2026 will be provided by Romana Moussa ahead of the meeting. \nA key focus will be the creation of a formal association structure\, which will increase transparency and enable fundraising beyond ALF contributions. Additionally\, our Dutch website is set for a professional upgrade. Romana Moussa will undertake a WordPress course\, generously funded by Prof. Dr. Arthur Eilers\, to develop a more dynamic and accessible site for the network. \nMembers will also hear from fundraising expert Cintia Nunes about EU funding opportunities and strategies. Updates on the Gaza exhibition\, currently showing in Paris until 5 November\, will be shared\, including plans to bring the exhibition to the Netherlands with financial support from Prof. Dr. Arthur Eilers (€50\,000). The meeting will also cover the latest on the Israel petition and related international advocacy initiatives. \nOther highlights include preparations for the Day of the Mediterranean on 28 November and discussions of additional items to ensure the network remains vibrant and impactful. \nShared Meal Options: Chicken stew with saffron rice and cranberries or Vegetarian Ghorme Sabzi (stew with Persian herbs\, red beans\, and mushrooms) \nWe look forward to welcoming all members and friends for a productive\, inspiring\, and collaborative evening.

SUMMARY:The Resistance Within Me – Son of a Resistance Fighter
DESCRIPTION:A theatrical\, spoken and danced performance by Feri de Geus\n“How can you free yourself from a war that had already ended before you were born?”\nAs part of Theater Na de Dam in Rotterdam\, Feri de Geus of Grand Cru Global\, also a member of the Dutch Anna Lindh Foundation Network\, will perform his powerful and personal production “The Resistance Within Me” from May 2 to 5 at a historic location: the police station on Haagse Veer in Rotterdam. It was precisely there that his father played a leading role in one of the most daring resistance actions in Dutch history in 1944 — the liberation of 43 prisoners during the Second World War. \nIn this personal exploration of his father’s resistance history — a man who rarely spoke about it — Feri examines the impact of an inherited history. How do you live with the story of a hero who never wanted to be seen as one? \n🎭 The Resistance Within Me is an intimate\, physical\, and emotional performance in which dance\, text\, and silence come together. Particularly remarkable is that the Rotterdam police are welcoming the performance into their own premises\, as a reflection on a past in which the institution itself was divided by war and difficult choices. \n📍 Location: Rotterdam Police Unit – Haagse VeerMeeting point: Timmerhuis\, Halve Maan Passage 90\, Rotterdam \n🗓️ Performance dates \nMay 2 – 20:00 (arrive at 19:45) \nMay 3 – 20:00 (arrive at 19:45) \nMay 4 – 21:00 (arrive at 20:45) \nMay 5 – 20:00 (arrive at 19:45) \n🎟️ Tickets: €15 – https://grand-cru-global.weticket.io/het-verzet-in-mij/timeslots \n👣 A family story with generations sharing the stageFeri is supported in this performance by his daughter Khoroi\, who adds another layer to the story as a youthful conscience and prompter. This creates a special interplay between generations\, memory\, and imagination. \n🎗️ Made possible by: Rotterdam Police Unit\, Erasmus Foundation Rotterdam\, Municipality of Rotterdam (Arts & Culture)\, V-fonds\, and Grand Cru Global. \n📩 More information: gcg.hetverzetinmij@gmail.com
