Member Spotlight: El Hizjra Literatuurprijs 2025 – A Stage for New Voices
14 juli 2025
One of the proud members of our network, El Hizjra, has opened submissions for the El Hizjra Literatuurprijs 2025.
This annual award offers a unique platform for young writers with a bicultural background from the Netherlands and Flanders. Whether through prose or poetry, participants are invited to share their voices, stories, and imagination with a wider audience.
A Launchpad for Literary Talent
Since its founding, the El Hizjra Literatuurprijs has been more than just a competition — it has become a launchpad for future literary voices. Renowned authors such as Abdelkader Benali, Lamia Makaddam, and Mounir Samuel all took their first steps here, showing how this prize can mark the beginning of a promising literary journey.
Bridging Heritage and Contemporary Society
El Hizjra’s mission goes beyond awarding prizes. Rooted in Arab literary heritage, the organisation builds bridges to contemporary Dutch society, offering a stage for stories that reflect themes of diversity, identity, and belonging. Alongside the Literatuurprijs, El Hizjra also organises events, workshops, and cultural programmes that foster intercultural dialogue and artistic expression.
